Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Postings

The Saints Peter and Paul School Pre-Kindergarten program and its teachers are dedicated to helping each child grow in all areas of development--cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual. The program offers a theme- and center-based curriculum which encourages children to explore and learn through hands-on activities. Because we are a multi-age program for three-, four-, and five-year-olds, the children are offered the same activities, but at an age-appropriate level.

Typical Daily/Weekly Activities
A typical day in Pre-K includes morning meeting, calendar, weather, stories, exploration, and discussion of our theme. The children are offered choices of centers, where they can work and play with classmates and/or work in teacher-directed centers. We work on color, shape, number, and letter recognition, as well as letter sounds. We encourage a child's creativity by offering open-ended art activities, as well as exploration through science experiments and math activities. The children also enjoy Music, Physical Education, and Art once a week with our school specialists.

Major Academic Goals
Children learn math and science skills (counting, sorting, patterning, observation, prediction), prayers (Hail Mary, Our Father, Grace), social studies, and language skills. The children are read to several times each day, and the emergent reader in each child is fostered.
