Originally established as a parish school in 1923, Saints Peter and Paul School was staffed by the Sisters of Mercy for 70 years. The school’s first six months were spent in temporary facilities in the church basement, with very large classes (as many as 57 pupils per teacher) and six dedicated Sisters of Mercy. After moving to its own building, the school grew quickly from four grades to six, and held its first eighth grade graduation in 1928.

The next several decades were a time of success and growth for the school. In more recent years, a dedicated staff of lay teachers has carried on the Sisters’ tradition of academic excellence and strong Catholic values. Over the course of 80 years, we have educated more than 4,000 boys and girls from Greater Fall River and its surrounding communities.
